Celebrating Shichi Go San Los Angeles

Drizzling rain on and off in the quiet morning at the Sequoia Park in Monterey Park. The sky held the rain for just long enough for me to capture this beautiful mother and her son who was celebrating his Shichi Go San. Besides this 5 years old boy’s well-posed images, the following images are my favorites being able to capture their emotions and his innocence.

I could almost hear mom’s whisper “oh, let’s get rid of your milk mustache. . . “

I asked her to kneel down at the level of her son’s face.  As their faces get closer, his tensed face started melting down and gazing at his mom’s eyes, and  . . . what came out next . . .

His spontaneous big hug to mom!  “Watch out the water puddle, mom! ” LOL in my heart.  I LOOOVed the spontaneous surprises!

I always try to bring back many antiques everytime I visit my parent’s house in Kyushu in Japan.  These Hagoitas are handmade and authentic. I let him touch one of them and then what happens next!
